Got our pics

Well we received our pics from the photographer yesterday and we are really pleased with how they turned out. Not a lot of dreamy, far away looks and blurry visions of romance ... but that's not the sort of people we are!!

Some fantastic shots of everybody in the bridal party and the guests. Will start thinking about which ones to put on the walls at home very soon.

Anyway .. thought I'd pop some up for you to have a look at. How spunky is my new husband!!

20 days to go

OK .. so tomorrow is the 1 August. My wedding month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe how quickly it has come around. I am told that the day goes extremely quickly anyway so maybe I shouldn't be counting down and making bringing it on quicker!!! lol

Purchased the remaining bits and pieces that had to be done on the weekend so other than dress fitting tomorrow, I'm done!! All that's left to do is pack my bags and get on the plane.

Sarah had her fitting with Min on Saturday and the dress looks really pretty. We found some lovely shoes for both Sarah and Min that go beautifully with the dresses.

Sarah looked gorgeous and looks so grown up. Will be fantastic to see her with her hair done professionally.

So all in all .. it's coming together really well. Keep fingers crossed that in the next 20 days there is no hurricaine on Daydream Island and ruins everything!!!!

Freak me out ... 3 weeks to go ....

until we board the plane for the Whitsundays!!!

Have decided not to print Order of Service books so that's one less thing I need to worry about.

So ... left to do:

1. Purchase shoes for me and Sarah
2. Purchase jewellery
3. Purchase white material for aisle
4. Finalise music for ceremony

That's it!!! Can you believe it??? i certainly can't. Getting REALLY excited now.

Picked up my dress from dad's on the weekend and have looked at it every day - I'm such a dork. Actually tried it on yesterday and while I haven't lost a stack of weight, it certainly sits a lot more comfortable than it was. The dress maker shouldn't have too much of a difficult job as it's just around the boobs that it needs adjusting - taken in can you believe!!!!!

Darren is coming now (which is great) so we have the family and the couple of friends that we wanted. Only person that is missing who we would have loved to be there is Tracey but given her state of pregnancy, we can sure understand why she can't fly!!!

34 days to go

Freak me out!!! 34 days to the wedding.

Only 30 days until we fly to Airlie Beach though .. how cool is that?? Well, won't be very cool at all .. will be quite warm in fact!

John chose his wedding outfit on Saturday with the help of Bill (God bless that man). He has chosen a brilliant outfit and will look extremely gorgeous in it!! It's very 'John' ... long shorts, white shirt and sandles. Nice and casual (which is VERY John). Haven't seen Neil's outfit but the way Bill described it, it is going to look fantastic as well. SO excited!!

Just over a month to go!

Man oh man ... 41 days to go until the big day!!!

OK .. so things done in the last few weeks:

1. Vows and ceremony structure written and sent to celebrant - waiting on him to review and go over with us

2. Melinda has purchased material (finally!!) for her dress and has started to make it. Sarah's dress has been measured and she has started the alterations for that as well.

3. Order of Service books drafted ... few minor touch ups then need to print.

Things still to do:

1. Choose music for ceremony
2. print out OOS booklets
3. Buy material for aisle on the beach
4. Work out what is happening with the rings!!
5. Not panic

Yes I'm starting to mildly panic ... not overly, but just keep thinking of little things that I need (like do I need to buy a pretty knife to cut the cake???!!!). Who knows these things!!

The wedding co-ordinator on Daydream Island is pretty hard to get hold of so am getting a bit worried about that as well.

Anywya .. deep breaths. it will all be fine

Visited Dad the other day and popped in to say hi to my dress. God I love it :-)))

2 months and 1 day to go

Freak me out!!!! only 2 months to go and we head off for our most excellent adventure!!

Actually I have less than 2 months to organise everything as I want all things sorted out by the 1 August so that I don't have to worry about anything other than having my dress altered.

So since my last post, the following has been done:

1. Dress collected and stored at Dad's place
2. Min finally decided on material and pattern - material purchased
3. Song list starting to come together
4. Confirmed pricing on Daydream Island for reception and other bits and pieces
5. Wedding bands collected

Still to do:

1. Vows to be written
2. Dress to be altered
3. Bridesmaid's dress to be made and Sarah's dress altered
4. Boy's outfits to be found

A few other little things but I can't think straight right now.

Getting very nervous about it all and whether I will lose enough weight by the wedding but the fact is that the dress fits me now, so if I don't lose any more weight, at least I can still wear it. Albeit feeling like a whale in it!!!

While the nerves are there about how the day is going to go, I am getting so excited to be Mrs McGuinness!! Tried to do my signature for the first time the other day ... boy it's a long surname. There is something to be said about keeping my own name!!! :-)) Joking .. no way I'd keep my own name. I've had it for a long time - time for a change don't you think?? :-))

So let's start....

OK, so I've got a blog for the building of our beautiful house ... for my efforts to lose weight ... so I figured that I may as well go the whole hog and do a blog for the upcoming nuptials between John and I.

I'll take you back a step to get you up to speed on events so far.

1. 5 October 2006 ... John pops the question at Songbirds Restaurant, Mt Tambourine on the Gold Coast. Yes there were tears.

2. Date set ... 19 August 2007.

3. Location chosen - Whitehaven Beach (Ceremony) & Daydream Island (Reception)

4. Decision made to keep it small with only parents and a best friend each. Fallout from sisters will be huge but, bad luck.

5. Min chosen as Bridesmaid, Sarah as junior Bridesmaid and Neil as Best Man.

That's basically it in a nutshell. It is now early May and a lot of things have been done:

1. Celebrant booked
2. Photographer booked
3. Florist & hairdresser booked
4. Flights booked and paid for
5. Honeymoon booked and paid for (2 weeks sailing around Whitsundays on a Bavaria 39)
6. Found Sarah's dress .. bought and paid for
7. Found my wedding dress ... most of it paid for, picking up soon
8. Sea Plane booked (bridal party landing at Whitehaven Beach via Sea Plane)

I'm starting to panic ever so slightly that it's not going to go as planned, but I figure that as long as we have a good time, that's all that counts.

Theme colour for bridesmaids is blue - Min wanted an aqua blue but we couldn't find a dress for Sarah in the colour she wanted so it's kind of a baby blue colour. I'm not really hung up on the idea of Sarah & Min having to have the same style or colour of dress so if she is a little different to Sarah, so be it.

It is definitely a very bad idea to marry and build a house in the same year but, I guess we are getting it all out of the way in 2007. I keep thinking that with the money we are spending on the wedding we could do everything around the house that needs doing but then I also think that I'm getting married for the first and only time so dam it, I'm going to spend our hard earned cash and enjoy it!!

John is definitely looking forward to the sailing more than the wedding but that's to be expected I guess.

So that's it so far really ... as things happen I'll update this blog for anybody that cares.

:-)
